The federal government has made CBD legal in USA during the year of 2018. The change in the perspective of the government to legalize an extract obtained from the family of a schedule I drug is purely because of its medicinal qualities. Even though the central law was passed only in 2018, there were so many state laws before and after such date. Some of those local CBD regulations that have the authority to overrule the federal CBD regulations existing in the different states of the USA are as follows.
In the state of Alabama, CBD has been legal since 2014. The local laws stated that only those people who are suffering from epilepsy were allowed to have and use CBD. The law also stated that those people who are eligible under these criteria must procure a prescription from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, to get legal CBD. Since it was considered as a schedule I drug, the doctors were restricted to prescribe CBD, but they were allowed to recommend their patients to use the same.
It is one of the first states in the US that legalized the retail sale of CBD products in the common stores. The law of this state in 2017 allowed the usage of CBD as a dietary supplement. The rule specified that the CBD product that is sold to people must contain only 5 percent of Cannabidiol, and less than 0.3 percent of THC. The rules regarding the sale of CBD in general stores were established in this state only after the federal law that made CBD legal.
The bill regarding the legalization of CBD in Lowa was presented during 2014. Even though it is one of the bills that gain huge public support, it was made into an act only during 2017. The HF 524 stated that any person who is a resident of the state was allowed to carry and use CBD anywhere within the state as a medicine for the treatment of certain specified diseases, like epilepsy, anxiety, etc. The state also established dispensaries to sell medical marijuana to the people.
Not only the states mentioned above, but there are also several other states within America that are following their own different CBD regulations other than the federal law.
